Distillers Dried Grains Plus Solubles Utilization by Livestock and Poultry

چکیده
Increased production of corn based ethanol and the resulting increase in availability of distillers dried grain with solubles (DDGS) has a number of implications for the U.S. livestock industry and for the production of traditional livestock feed crops. Some of those implications are examined here. First, and most importantly, the potential size of the domestic market for DDGS is evaluated in detail based on likely feeding rates by species. Second, the impact of increased feeding of DDGS on the requirement for corn and soybean production is examined. Third, the limited available evidence on the impact of the location of ethanol production facilities on the location of livestock production is presented.

Apparent ileal amino acid digestibility of reduced-oil distillers dried grains with solubles fed to broilers from 23 to 31 days of age.
An experiment was conducted using male Ross×Ross 708 broiler chicks to determine the effect of oil extraction from corn distillers dried grains with solubles on apparent ileal amino acid digestibility from 23 to 31 d of age. On an as-fed basis, ether extract concentrations were determined as 5.4% (L-distillers dried grains with solubles), 7.9% (M-distillers dried grains with solubles), and 10.5...
متن کاملLand usage attributed to corn ethanol production in the United States: sensitivity to technological advances in corn grain yield, ethanol conversion, and co-product utilization
BACKGROUND Although the system for producing yellow corn grain is well established in the US, its role among other biofeedstock alternatives to petroleum-based energy sources has to be balanced with its predominant purpose for food and feed as well as economics, land use, and environmental stewardship. We model land usage attributed to corn ethanol production in the US to evaluate the effects o...

76.5 kg BW) were used in replicated 4×4 Latin squares to investigate the effects of brown midrib (bm3) and conventional (DP) corn silages, and the inclusion of dried distillers grains plus solubles (DDGS) on milk production and N utilization. In each 28 d period cows were assigned to one of four treatments: DP plus 0% DDGS (CON); bm3 plus 0%

The objective of this work was to evaluate the inclusion of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) as substitution for soybean meal in Hisex Brown laying hen diets with or without enzyme or vitamin E supplementation on productive performance. A total number of 180 Hisex Brown laying hens at 26 weeks of age were randomly divided into 15 treatment groups in a 5 × 3 factorial design experime...

Co-products from distillation of cereal grains for alcohol production have been available to poultry and livestock producers for many years. Although the co-products were considered better suited for ruminants because of their relatively high fiber content, Morrison (1954) suggested that chick diets could contain up to 7% or 8% distillers grains and that diets for laying hens could contain up t...
